OVERVIEW

Synopsis: BRAID is the psychological thriller and horror story of Petula Thames and Tilda Darlings, two self proclaimed artists turned dealers and schemers on the run. The Girls moved to NYC to follow their dreams, but ended up getting involved in illegal activities instead. One unfortunate night, they mishandle eighty thousand dollars worth of narcotics and are given 48 hours to pay their vengeful drug lord back. The girls leave town and arrive at a desolate, gothic mansion in the countryside with the plan of robbing their wealthy childhood friend, Daphne Peters. Daphne inherited a fortune when she was little and has since been living secluded in the manor her whole life, growing into a dangerous schizophrenic agoraphobe, prisoner of the fantasy world the three created as children. To take her money the girls have to take part in Daphne’s twisted and violent game of make believe. The three of them quickly descend into a deadly maze of hallucinations, role play, torture and murder.

A female version of A Clockwork Orange, Mulholland Drive meets Heavenly Creatures meets Funny Games, with The Others twist at the end.

Powered by the Ethereum Blockchain: In partnership with the venture production studio, ConsenSys, the award winning equity crowdfunding portal WeiFund, BRAID will be the first major feature film to be fully financed through an equity crowdsale using cryptocurrency.

Equity Crowdfunding can fundamentally change the way the film industry works, by solving many issues regarding financing in the independent world. Instead of a large studio funding a film, thousands (or millions) of people can become investors. All the equity holders are then incentivized to market and promote the film, which increases its chances of success. And most important of all, artists can maintain creative control and stay true to the original vision of their work.

HIGHLIGHTS

Horror is the best deal in Hollywood
Compared to other genres, horror films have time and again proven to be highly successful in their potential return on investment due to their typical low production cost. Typically, horror films don’t hire expensive big-name movie stars, and complex special effects are usually kept to a minimum. Furthermore, horror movies, unlike other genres like comedy, translate well across all international markets – fear is a universal human emotion that captivates audiences across geographical borders. Horror films demographics have a wider range than all other genres, attracting both women and men equally, as well as younger to more adult crowds.

Spotlight on Women in film
Due to the strongly driven female nature of BRAID, main cast and creatives, we are also combatting traditional female demographics of women working in the industry. Only 9% of directors, 11% of writers, 26% of producers, and 6% of cinematographers are women. We are looking to change that.

An Experienced and Talented Production Team
The film is powered by a talented and experienced production team including producers Logan Steinhardt formerly of Killer Films and Arielle Elwes formerly of The Weinstein Company.

A Story that Makes you Question Reality
BRAID’s mind bending storyline has already been generating a debate that will likely lead to a strong cult following fanbase. Controversial and shocking content also makes for greater publicity, which leads to wider distribution.
